Meet Dr. Faith DeLong

Hello! I’m Dr. Faith DeLong. I look forward to getting to know you, and understanding your oral health priorities and concerns. I would be happy to share my knowledge about the latest developments in dentistry and to answer any questions you may have.

Although I am a dentist by trade, what I really enjoy is getting to know people and learning about their life paths and what is important to them. I believe good health–physical, mental, spiritual–is one of the greatest gifts we can have. Helping people get and stay healthier so that they can live their lives well is something that really excites me.

A Lifetime of Learning

I completed my undergraduate studies at Cornell University in 1988, and obtained my dental degree from Columbia University School of Dental Medicine in 1992. One year later, I received my certificate in Advanced Education in General Dentistry from Columbia University.

The early years of my dental career were spent with the U.S. Public Health Service in northern Arizona and New Mexico. In 2004, I opened a private dental practice in Santa Fe, New Mexico and soon thereafter met my husband, Mike. We have been married since 2008 and are still astonished to be parents to our Lego-building, thoughtful son Josh, who is almost eight.

I enjoy keeping up to date with the latest dental techniques and knowledge. So far I have participated in over 500 hours of study at such places as the Pankey Institute, R.V. Tucker Gold Study Club, the Dawson Dental Academy, and Spear Education where the focus is on delivering high quality, complete dentistry to meet the long term health goals of the patient.

In 2019, I was presented by the Academy of General Dentistry with their Fellowship Award (FAGD), an honor only 6% of dentists are recognized with.

Since moving with my family to Arlington in 2013, I have worked as a dentist at the Northern Virginia Dental Clinic. In addition to treating patients there, I’ve enjoyed interacting with dental students as a preceptor and adjunct faculty member at the University of Louisville Dental School and the University of Maryland School of Dentistry.

Outside the Office

Outside the office, I love to run, hike and ski. I also enjoy relaxing with a good book. I play the violin, and enjoy playing in community orchestras and amateur ensembles. I am a terrible cook but I love to eat. I love all things wild and beautiful. I enjoy a good belly laugh with friends as well as long quiet afternoons napping in the sun.
